Samuel Laycock Blog – 20.1.23
Let’s have a look at what’s been happening at Samuel Laycock this past couple of weeks, starting with our assembly…
8M showed great courage during their assembly which was all about… courage.
They confidently interviewed each other and members of the audience, asking how they had shown courage and what they had learnt from this.
They even interviewed their families!
Sticking with 8M and with Holocaust Memorial Day, our theme this year is all about Ordinary People. 8M learnt about Anne Frank and the ordinary people who helped her and her family whilst in hiding.
The pupils then created their own artwork to celebrate them.
Elsewhere, jumping back to last week, the Food Technology Pathway worked on desserts.
They used their skills to create some delicious desserts.
They worked hard on presentation again and learned some new skills for this, such as how to quenelle!
The last few weeks have also seen pupils on the sports pathway, who are currently participating in their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze & Silver Awards and Sports Leaders Awards, taking part in Fencing and Boxing activities through Ashton Fencing Club and Collyhurst & Moston Boxing Club.
It looks like they’ve had a brilliant time learning new skills.
That’s just a snapshot of what’s been going on in and out of school this past few weeks, and there’s so much more happening all the time.
Whatever you’re up to this weekend, stay warm and keep safe.
