A Week in Pictures (3.2.23)
Another week rolls by at Samuel Laycock and we’re getting closer to half term, but there’s no sign of anything slowing down at school, with plenty to update you on from the last week…
We had lots of fun for Chinese New Year, with tasty dishes and elaborate dragons popping up all over the place!
The school choir attended Young Voices, at the Manchester Arena. What fun they had! By the end of the evening they were absolutely shattered as they danced and sang the night away.
Big thanks goes out to Mrs Loughran and Miss Gordan-Smith for rehearsing the songs over the last few weeks and accompanying the young people to the event. These are the things that our children will remember long after leaving Samuel Laycock.
A different kind of trip took place when pupils from Year 8 visited B & Q in search of car cleaning products ready for their car washing enterprise next week. The pupils were so well behaved that we were given a 50% discount!
Elsewhere, 10 pupils from Key stage 3 were selected to represent Tameside in the Greater Manchester U19 Boccia Finals held at Bolton Arena.
These pupils have been taking part and practicing their Boccia skills during PE lessons, where they have developed skills in coordination, strategy and teamwork.
Our pupils were split into two teams and played against a variety of SEND schools across Greater Manchester. They did amazingly well and all came away from the competition with a medal and certificate.
Thank you to Mrs Eaton, Miss Albin and Mrs Nokes for taking our amazing students to the event.
Time for a rest over the weekend, but I’m sure we’ll be back at it come Monday morning!
Have a lovely weekend, everyone.
