Here’s a very green fingered Friday update for you, featuring a few features focusing on our fantastic Horticulture Pathway!

The pupils hosted a visit from Manchester City of Trees. Their staff came to assess our field for suitability of planting some saplings, hedgerows and mature trees.

They have to check the soil as well as the overhead power lines to make sure that the area is suitable. Staff and pupils are hoping to start planting in January.

The horticulture pathway celebrated World Environment Day with the rest of the school this week too. They explained how the sea is full of plastic and that the ocean wildlife is suffering because of this.

We discussed what each and every one of us could do on a daily basis, with suggestions such as recycling.

Finally the pupils would like to share an update of the planting they are carrying out both inside and outside of the polytunnel.

This includes fruit trees, homegrown veg and herbs.

All the planters have been assembled by the pupils and we are very proud of everything that they have achieved this year.
