Samuel Laycock Latest – 15.9.23
Another busy week comes to a close at Samuel Laycock, and it’s safe to say thatour pupils are back into the swing of things.
Here’s what they’ve been up to this week…
Engagement pathway opened the doors to their ‘Chatty Café’.
They set up their very own bistro, supporting one another to set the tables and equipment needed.
They used prompt cards to ask open questions and find out what their peers did at the weekend, activities they enjoy and lots of other lovely questions that support getting to know one another.
They also practiced their living skills by making toast, spreading and cutting and tidying away.
Elsewhere, we have certainly started the year as we mean to go on, as auditions and rehearsals are already underway for the Christmas pantomime.
We don’t want to give too much away at this point but watch this space for further information!
The pupils in the KS3 engagement pathway had a fantastic morning celebrating Roald Dahl Day.
They focused on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; engaging in activities linked to their sensory story.
The pupils hunted for golden tickets, learnt about the different characters, explored costumes and characteristics of the main characters and showed brilliant retaining skills when completing our story review.
Finally this week, pupils in all food technology lessons have made a fabulous start to the year.
They are enjoying being back in the kitchen, creating and cooking their own recipes.
The theme this year is based on cooking from all around the world so they will testing their own palettes for different spices and flavours.
That’s it for this week. We hope you have a lovely weekend and then let’s come back for more of the same next week!
