Here’s a short round up of some of the last few week’s highlights from Samuel Laycock…
Portraits with 9P
This half term, in their Art lessons, 9P have been looking at portraits.
We have been looking at different types of portraits – caricatures, paintings, sketches and collages.
City of Trees
On Thursday 12th October, our Horticulture Pathway had the Charity, “City of Trees” come into school to help plant 200 trees and shrubs on our school field.
This is an area that our pupils are currently maintaining and improving for everyone in school to access and enjoy.
Panto Prep!
In preparation for our Christmas pantomime, pupils in the performing arts pathway have been learning how to use stage make up.
They followed a pantomime dame actor called Luke on line and watched his tutorial for how to create the perfect dame face!
Goldsworthy worthy
In Art this half term, some of our children have been learning about Landscapes and Cityscapes…
They have looked at artists including Constable and Goldsworthy. The children created their own version of a local landscape – Hartshead Pike, using natural objects, to be able to compare their art to artists like Goldsworthy.
City centre trip
On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, 8C and 8SW visited Manchester city centre as part of their humanities topic; towns and cities.
During lessons pupils planned out the route that they would take on their maps.
